Another test kicked in the backside

I think it doesn't work any more.

I think it doesn't work anymore.

Here’s a photo of an old winch formerly used to haul incline carts up horizontal shafts. Taken by my friend James in the Ophir Hill mine.

I just got back my CS 235 midterm. My score was 156 out of 160 – a 97.5%. Bwa ha ha!

Also, there is a shirt I desperately need. Its coolness, on a scale of 1 to 10, is roughly infinity. Yeah. Check it out.

  1. Whoa. That may be the coolest t-shirt I’ve ever seen. It’s definitely a must have.

Congrats on the test scores. Very well done.

As for the winch: it certainly does seem to need work. I’m more interested in the apparent ghostly figure standing with its back to the camera over there on the left. What’s up with that? You might want to consider wearing garlic the next time you go down there.

  2. That’s one of the members of the group who decided to walk in and out of the photo. This photo was taken with a tripod, a long exposure, and light painting for illumination. That was our primary method of photography down in the mine – flash doesn’t work all that well unless you’ve got a very, very nice flash and camera combo.
I did, however, see an odd flash of light in a tunnel that didn’t come from any of the members of our party. It was probably just a reflection of somebody’s headlamp – or was it? (cue creepy Halloween music)

  3. Go Andy! That’s the way to keep those tests in line and keep all the other students psyched!

The T-shirt is super cool, but it sounds uncomfortable to wear with its battery pack, wires, etc. I’d let someone else wear it and get the benefit of seeing the signal on them!

  4. I would definitely buy that shirt. Well worth the money.

Ah, spelunking. When will your terrors ever end?
